Morgan Group Ventures, Inc. (MGV) is headquartered in Washington DC, incorporated in the State of Maryland and Airport Concessions Disadvantage Business Enterprise (ACDBE) certified by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) and the City of Philadelphia. MGV began operations on a cart in Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (National) in 1996. Just one year later, in 1997, MGV opened its first in-line, retail location, Pen & Prose, in National. As the company’s brand was being defined, so too was the new North Terminal of National Airport. From its auspicious beginnings, MGV learned hands-on what it takes to create, sustain and grow a business. This grass roots beginning set the tone for future growth of MGV’s brand.

In 2003, MGV expanded the company’s operations to Washington Dulles International Airport (Dulles) under a Joint Venture agreement with HMSHost. MGV currently operates, independently and in partnership with HMSHost 15 locations in 4 airports, providing retail and food and beverage concessions to discerning travelers.
MGV takes a hands-on approach with its locations, from conception to operations. Working with developers and planners, MGV manages concept development, construction, merchandising, stocking and staffing of its locations to create an environment and culture conducive to maintaining and growing the business.
MGV has been recognized by several organizations and publications for the success of its airport operations. In fact, the Small Business Administration recognized the company for sustained operations in the face of the September 11 tragedy. The company was also recognized by the Small Business Office under the Department of Transportation for its role as a presenter in the first small business conference hosted by the department. Mary Morgan, founder of Morgan Group Ventures, served as a consultant to the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority (MWAA) prior to founding the business. As a consultant to MWAA, she reviewed and made recommendations on financial policies and procedures, supported the operation of MWAA’s telecommunications service desk as well as MWAA’s information technology operations. Ms. Morgan has over 20 years’ experience supporting MWAA’s consulting and concession requirements, resulting in a broad understanding of MWAA operations. This gives her a unique advantage over many competitors when doing business with airports.
Additionally, Ms. Morgan has worked in senior management roles in small businesses, government agencies and Fortune 100 companies, both domestically and internationally. She has experience in the areas of finance, accounting, marketing, sales, strategic planning, operations analysis, technology and training. The diversity of her experience and the multi-dimensional functions she has managed have been important to the growth she has achieved throughout her career. This background has also emboldened Ms. Morgan with the confidence and capabilities to initiate and run a business.
MGV’s senior management team also has numerous years of substantive experience both in and outside airport concessions.
